Aipan Art

Traditional folk art form originating from the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand, India. 

Description of the artwork:
Central Motif:
The artwork features a prominent circular design resembling a mandala, executed primarily in red, white, and yellow colors. 

Symbolic Elements:
At the very center of the mandala, there are white footprints, traditionally representing the footsteps of Goddess Lakshmi, symbolizing prosperity and good fortune. 

Patterns:
The circular design incorporates intricate patterns and geometric motifs, characteristic of Aipan art, often inspired by nature, religious symbols, or deities. 

Framing:
The Aipan art piece is presented within a decorative frame, suggesting it is a decorative item for homes or sacred spaces.
 
Materials:
Aipan art is traditionally created using a white paste made from rice flour on a surface prepared with wet ochre mud (geru), which gives it the characteristic red base.
